Defining Beauty

The whole world is obsessed on the definition of what beauty is and it gives outrageous standards that something must be perfect in order to be considered as beautiful, but why not get rid of this concept of what beauty is and simply celebrate people for who they are?

The definition of beautiful, is as states ‘having beauty; possessing qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind’, however, a huge amount of people mistakenly define beautiful as being skinny. Skinny is not another word for beauty. It cannot be used as interchangeable as it doesn’t have the same meaning. Skinny is defined as something that is ‘very lean or thin’.  Please do not get me wrong, by saying that skinny is not interchangeable for the word beautiful, in no way am I trying to bring down skinny people and say that they aren’t beautiful. It’s just that so many people think that skinny means beauty and fat is a synonym for the same as ugly.

There are a number of things that we cannot change about ourselves overnight and without a lot of work, and that only makes us human. You are never forced to like the number on the scale that is staring back at you, or the reflection in the mirror, but you should embrace it instead and never be ashamed of it. Every single person deserves to have the ability to be comfortable with exactly who they are, and as a society, we need to celebrate each other’s differences rather than shame each other for them.

Not every single person in the world will see you beauty and that’s perfectly okay. What only matters is how you see yourself. If you believe that you are beautiful, then why should you let anyone influence or change that view of yourself. You deserve to have all the confidence and self-love that you can give yourself. If already, you have achieved this, then I am extremely proud of you for this. In addition, I’m proud of those who are currently in the process of trying to become confident in themselves, and those that arent yet. Every single one of you is beautiful in your own right and I hope that one day, you are able to see that within yourself. I know you will one day reach this, and I hope you can believe this.

Skinny people are beautiful, overweight people are beautiful and all those in between are beautiful. Every single person on this planet is beautiful.
